Overview
Lucy Student Pipeline Accelerator and Competency Enabler (L'SPACE) has the NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience (NPWEE), an intensive program designed to immerse participants in the NASA proposal development process. Over the course of five months, from January to May 2022, I developed a comprehensive manufacturing and prototyping workflow for 2DPA-1 polymer (an innovative material discovered at MIT) with applications in space environments. My role involved building a year-long Gantt-style timeline that synchronized engineering, research, and testing phases into a cohesive project schedule. Beyond proposal development, I also participated in NASA-style proposal evaluation, applying official scoring criteria to competing project submissions. This experience provided hands-on exposure to the rigorous standards and methodologies used in actual NASA funding decisions, while contributing to a proposal that was submitted to NASA for funding consideration.
